Knowledge, Quality and Ability

The origins of a unique collection

Laphé the Gallery houses an extensive collection of contemporary art. The collection has been put together by Maximilian, Graf von Laphé. His interest in art manifested itself at an early age. In 1955, he meticulously began to put together a very special art collection. His first purchases were works by Appel and Corneille, members of the Dutch COBRA group. Subsequently, the collection was rapidly extended with works by Kazuo Shiraga, John Wesley and Paul McCarthy. In short: each and every piece in the collection is of international renown.
